Director of Orthopaedic Clinic
Georgios Polonyfis is a graduate of the School of Medicine at National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, where he was admitted through the national entrance examinations, ranking 3rd nationwide, and received an academic distinction. He completed his medical studies within the standard six-year curriculum, graduating with a degree grade of 8.3 (“Very Good”).
He began his orthopedic residency at Children’s Hospital of Athens “Agia Sofia” in the Pediatric Orthopaedics Department, where he participated in numerous surgical procedures and gained extensive experience in pediatric orthopedic conditions.
He was trained in neonatal hip ultrasound for the diagnosis of congenital hip dysplasia and received international certification from the world-renowned Professor Reinhard Graf.
He continued his residency at Asklepieion General Hospital of Voula, where he gained broad experience in the full spectrum of adult orthopedic conditions, performing numerous procedures in:
Trauma surgery
Joint reconstruction and total joint replacement
Arthroscopic surgery
Upper extremity surgery
Spine surgery
Microsurgery
Foot and ankle surgery
Emergency trauma care
He further specialized at KAT General Accident Hospital in Upper Extremity Surgery and Hand Microsurgery, treating both traumatic injuries and chronic upper limb conditions.
During this period, he also participated in:
the Musculoskeletal Research Laboratory at KAT Hospital
the Arthroscopy & Sports Injuries Department
the Vascular Surgery Department, with a focus on peripheral vascular trauma management
Upon completing his residency, he excelled in the national board examinations for Orthopedic Surgery at KAT General Hospital, achieving the highest score among all candidates.
From 2018 to April 2024, Dr. Polonyfis practiced in Western Greece (Patras and Agrinio), where he maintained a private practice while serving as a scientific associate at Olympion Therapeutic Center of Patras. During this time, he performed a large number of orthopedic procedures, including numerous robotic knee and hip replacement surgeries.
From 2024 to 2025, he served as a scientific associate at IASO Thessaly while maintaining a private practice in Larissa.
Since 2025, he has been practicing in Athens at his private office located at 82 Kifisias Avenue, Ampelokipoi.

Additionally, he has served as a team physician for football and basketball competitions through ATHLETIA.
